MCM 2016 Vlog

It's already been a year since the last MCM? Well, here's my vlog from MCM Glasgow 2016!

The outfit I wore was basically a re-do of the outfit I wore to MCM in 2013. Same concept, just better executed.
As always the artists alley was my favourite spot and I bought some comics and an art book.

Looking forward to next year already!

PeriPera Peri's Ink Review

After testing out the "Minimini Girl Cabinet" set of Peri's Ink lip tints, I have discovered that these are just my favourite lip tints ever.

The set comes with mini versions of each of the types PeriPera makes; Two "original" lip tints, one "moist" lip tint, one "velvet" lip tint and one BB tint.

Each product has it's pros and cons, but the Velvet is by far the best in my eyes.

Real Talk, How to be Goth on a Budget.

The question that almost every goth out there gets asked second-most to "how are you brave enough to wear this" is "how do you afford it".
And the advice that is given is usually along the lines of "Learn to DIY". Quite often withe heavy overtones of "if you don't diy you're not a real goth". But honestly? That's so unfair. It's unfair to people who work and/or study full time. It's unfair to people who can't afford to learn a new skill, and it's really quite ableist as not everyone can make things themselves.

So what do you do? Goth clothing from goth brands marketed at goths is expensive. They can cost from £20-£50 for a white ruffled shirt or a pair of black jeans.

In this video I'm straight forward with you and tell you exactly how to afford a gothic fashion wardrobe if you don't have much money - and be warned, the answer is to shop mainstream.

Shop Mainstream

For makeup and clothing. Every autumn and winter "berry colours" and "jewel tones" come into fashion. This means there are dark coloured clothing and makeup everywhere.

Pay attention to trends. Because fashion is currently doing another 90s Revival, crushed velvet and ribbon chokers are avaliable again, cheaply and easilly.

Eyeliner and Lipliner are Interchangeable

Can't afford a niche brand's blue lipstick? Fill in your lips with a blue eyeliner pencil.

Charity Shops and Ebay

Patience and repition and key here. Know what you're after and be willing to spend a long time looking for it. If you are able to visit the same charity shop repeatedly you're much more likely to find something good there than if you just go once.

When it comes to Ebay, do not be too precious about your search terms!
Don't limit youself to things labelled "goth". Search for "victorian", even though we all know the clothes aren't really victorian and so on.

If you CAN make stuff yourself, then absolutely do so. But if you can't, then don't worry about it. There's a reason that hand-made items are so expensive.
Learning a new skill involves so much time, and costs so much in practice matierials.
Learning to sew or make jewelery or paint is a great thing to do IF you have the ability, time and money.

The KEY POINTS here, are that you have to be patient. Willing to wait for mainstream fashions to turn into something useable. To re-visit the same charity shops or to spend endless time scrolling ebay.

Do you have any tips of your own to add? Leave them in a comment!

Halloween in Tokyo

In a few weeks I’ll be heading to Tokyo for the Halloween season <3 nbsp="" p="">
Last time I went there, I got requests for what kind of thing to blog about. Stuff like Food, Maid Cafe’s and Hotels. That was great!
This time I plan of Vlogging properly while over there. (There are videos of my previous trips, but I still wasn’t comfortable talking to the camera back then).

My point is.. what kind of this would you be most interested in seeing?

Is there something I should film in particular?

Red Riding Hood Comic

Back at the start of this year I drew this short comic. The concept was to make a story for vampire children, and I based it on the classic faerie tale "little red riding hood".

Outfit Planning for MCM

MCM Glasgow is this coming weekend, and I plan on wearing an OTT Guro outfit for it!
This outfit is loosely based on one I put together using this same JSK in May.

But I added some more hand made accessories.

JSK: Bunny and Black
Blouse: Angelic Pretty
Shoes: Metamorphose
Bonnet: Chantilly
The socks, ear cuffs and chain accessories are all hand made. Versions of these items are for sale on my Etsy store LowDownAndDandy!

Manga Monday: Drawing with CROSS Fountain Pen

This week's art video is a simple line art, drawn with a Cross fountain pen. This is the fanciest pen I've ever owned. It's really nice to draw with.

I did a rough version of this artwork before drawing this version;

Cellpium Vampire Face Mask Review

Honestly, the most sure way to get me to buy something is to slap a vampire on it.

Today, we have the Cellpium "Vampire Cleansing Mask", they're a sheet mask that's supposed to be used as the cleansing part of your skincare routine, instead of at the cream and lotion part.
These promise to be a Cleansing Water, Foam Cleansing and Mask Pack all in one.

They do foam up. Quite a lot. It was kinda weird, but it worked.

They're also heavilly fake-lemon scented.

Overall, they work as a cleanser, but not better than a nomral foam cleanser.
I wont be replacing my usual face foam with these. But they were fun to try out!

Silver's 10th Birthday

Since I don't know when her real birthday is, we celebrate the aniversarry of her adoption and last weekend Silver was officially 10 years old!

I made dog-safe cake for her, or "Pupcakes". Using this "Banana Pupcakes" recipie. They turned out pretty good, considering my lack of baking skill, and Silver loved them.
..I also tried to make human cake, but it was totally inedible. Maybe my skills are for dogs only...

A small group of our nearest and dearest came over to spend the day lavishing attention on her, there was even gifts! Silver now has a beautiful pearl collar. Very classy on a lady of her age.

Thank You!

Holographic Goth Makeup and Outfit

Makeup and outfit worn with that one most rediculous shirt I got at the last Vintage Kilo Sale.

I'm a real sucker for anything shiny and holographic or irridescent.
This isn't a style that overlaps with goth often, but that's not going to stop me.

This lip gloss is the Sigma "Lip Switch" in Double Whammy.
It looks totally different depending on what colour you wear under it.

My boots and leggins were both holographic effect and shining with little rainbows.
(both found on ebay, Boots originally from topshop)

Manga Monday: Symmetry Pen

A quick lineart, drawn using Medibang Paint's symmetry pen.
Again, you can see in the video that I start with a freehand "sketch" under my main drawing, although it's really, really simple this time.

To use symmetry, you ctrl-click the centre point you want, then simply draw one side of your art!
