Out in the Snow

Yesterday, my friend Harry (of H. Mcdougall Photography )(and facebook) and I ventured out into the snow for a small photoshoot. He had never done a shoot in the snow before, and I'd never done a 'proper' photoshoot before! So, it was a learning experience for us both, and it was a lot of fun!
He is obviously a talented photographer, I can't quite believe it's really me in these pictures :)

Edinburgh Christmas Meetup

First of all, a very happy International Winter Lolita Day to you! I hope you did something suitably elegant, frilly and cute to celebrate :)

Yesterday, the Scottish Lolitas gathered in spite of the terrible weather conditions for a meetup in Edinburgh. A few people couldn't make it, because of the mass cancelation of trains which was very sad, and the group of us that travelled from Glasgow were on (litterally) the only train running in and out of the station!
However, the fear and trepidation, danger of being stuck and travel delays were all worth while!

It seems like not long ago there was a grand total of 5 Lolitas, in Scotland. And we had small meet ups every now and then. Now, there's so many of us!
Our number takes up entire rooms in pretty tea houses! hehehe.
After an absolutely splendid lunch of sandwiches, scones and cupcakes we went to the christmas faire for some fun!
We'd been looking forward to the carousel ride..
My horse was called "Samuel" :p
The next stop was the Ferris Wheel. It was cold up there!
But we did get a beautiful view of the city.

Clare and I overheard someone say "ice maze", and immediately decided we had to go in it! So, we located the forementioned maze and excitedly swarmed into it! All those perspex pannels and mirrored walls made it a very tricky maze to navigate, it was alot of fun.

huh? That didn't come out right, here's a better picture ;)

Out of the Maze part, there was a moving conveyor belt on which you had to sit, and try to get off again at the other side while the belt moved mack and forth at the contoll of the man at the end! It was much more difficult that it sounds and looked!
In fact, there's even a video of it ...

All too soon, it was getting dark, we were getting tired, and it was time to go home.

Thank You all for such an amazing day! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again next time!

(My outfit rundown:
OP and head bow : Angelic Pretty
Wig: Minty Mix
Cardigan: ETC
Coat: Putumayo)

Gothic Lolita Interior Decor

The ultimate lolita-lifestyle accessory in my mind is a Lolita appropriate living space. Imagine living in a beautiful victorian house with antique furniture and flocked wallpaper. Wonderful isn't it? Most of us will not have the oppertunity to have a big opulant house or expensive antique furniture. But there's other ways to make our lives more decadent and gothic-lolita styled.

- Thrift Stores/Charity Shops can be a gold mine of vintage decorations and furniture that might just need a little bit of paint or a clean to spruce them up!

- want the four-poster bed effect? Why not pin some pretty sheets of fabric to the ceiling around your bed?

- a dressform with one of your favourite outfits displayed on it would add a nice touch to a room.

I plan on re-decorating some time next year and have been searching for inspiration;

Something like this may not be possible (yet?!), but it's a wonderful source of inspiration.

This is more my style though, and includes many rooms of the house. Imagine your whole house styled the way you dreamed?

OpiateVampire of "The Dark Victorian" ( posted a picture recently that showed her own gothicly decorated bedroom;

And she even has a post entirely with decorating tips and ideas;
"Paint it Black"

I found this very inspirational and intend to try out the spraypaint tip she talks about.
Creating things like this;

Brands also some times make room decorations as novelty items, for example, these pillowcases by Metamorphose;
wouldn't they look great on a vintage sofa?

I'm looking forward to getting started on my own Lolita Living Space!

What do your rooms look like? do you have Lolita decorations?

Halloween and The Zombie Walk

Happy Haloween everyone!
Did you all have a suitably spooky experience? Did you get all dressed up?
I did!

Today, I got gored up and walked..or shambled.. up to face my biggest fear. Zombies. The Glasgow Zombie Walk saw roughly 1000 people, ambling, running and groaning, blood stained and with severed limbs through Kelvingrove Park.
I went with a Little Red Riding Hood look, along with the classic red and white guro look.
There were a lot of photographers and even TV cameras at the walk, and some of the professional shots of me appeared online! yay:

All in all, it was superb fun and I probably won't be as afraid of zombies as I was before from now on. Because being a zombie is FUN!

I did it, I faced my phobia and joined the Zombie masses. So now, I challenge you readers to do the same! Face something you fear, even if it's just a little thing. Do it!

Polyvore Sweet Kodona

Up untill this afternoon, I hadn't the foggiest idea how polyvore worked. Other people seemed to be able to make interesting co-ordinate ideas and outfit plans, but I just couldn't imagine how, and never really got into it.
Today, curiosity got the better of me and I signed up for Polyvore, to explore how to put together things of my own!
And the proverbial bug has deffinately bitten me.

My first 'creations' were exploring the Sweet Kodona style I've been formulating for the last few months, I thought this would be a good platform to really see what it would be like put together.

Pink and Purple Boyish outfits! As sweet as sweet can be in angelic pretty blouses and matching shoes.

The next one, was the first outfit I made and it is slightly more classical. It's classical/sweet kodona.

I have some more gothic and halloween-appropriate polyvore sets to share with you at a later date, but this is all for now!
